Angie's is a snug café tucked just behind the bookshops of Hay-on-Wye, a spot that feels very much part of the town’s quiet rhythm. Its modest size means it can get busy, especially on festival days or weekends when visitors and locals alike come off the streets looking for a hearty breakfast or a comforting lunch.

The atmosphere is informal and welcoming, with friendly service that adds a personal touch to each visit. Many drop by after browsing the famous local bookstores, settling in for freshly made sandwiches, salads, or a warm baked potato. The food here is straightforward but satisfying, with the best bacon and sausage baps in town often mentioned, alongside generous breakfasts served with a side of playful banter.

Angie herself adds character to the place, making it feel less like a café and more like a spot where locals catch up. The prices are notably reasonable, which suits those looking for a filling meal without fuss. Expect a cozy but lively vibe, especially mid-morning or early afternoon when the café acts as a meeting point for Hay-on-Wye’s community and visitors alike.

Those who appreciate a good hot chocolate or a substantial mug of coffee will find themselves well looked after here. The highlight for many is the warmth both in the food and the welcome, making it a practical and pleasant stop whether you’re in town for the festival or a quiet visit. If you’re cycling or walking through town, be sure to keep an eye out for a classic Lambretta scooter parked nearby — a little local detail that adds to the café’s charm.

A fantastic little cafe with excellent service. After browsing the bookshops on the town, we were ravenous. We had bacon and sausage baps, the best I've eaten in many a days' march, followed up with a lovely slice of cake each and a great steaming mug of hot chocolate. The lady in the cafe was friendliness personified. Highly recommended, well worth a visit.

Brilliant breakfast for £10.50. Angie is a character in a good sense. The cafe is a bit on the small side but, eh-ho, you take your chance

What an absolutely stunning experience Fabulous mansize breakfast, coffee and amazing service from the young lady who couldn’t have been more helpful. Such incredible value for money and all served with a smile and genuine banter and interest. Honestly the best breakfast I’ve enjoyed in many a long day. Thank you, we’ll be back. John and Bill

Found this gem of a cafe after Saturday morning Parkrun and had the breakfast which was a proper workers breakfast. Won't need to eat again today! Would recommend and owner was welcoming and happy atmosphere
